What is an APN?
The Access Point Name (APN) is the name for the settings your phone reads to set up a connection to the gateway between your carrier's cellular network and the public Internet.
Where to find APN for SIM card?
You can find the APN and other technical informations on the support pages at the carrier website.
What type of APN settings to look for?
myFirstFone is an Android OS device. Search for Android APN settings for 3G mobile internet data of your respective mobile carriers.
How to edit the APN settings?
If you see this (magnifying glass icon beside full signal bar), it means your SIM can work on myFirst Fone. Keep this "Searching" mode active for 3 to 5 mins by tapping once every time the screen darkens. But do not continuously tap on the screen.
After 3 to 5 minutes, this will appear; Tap on « Change APN ». After which, you will be brought to the next page where you can select preloaded APNs of your SIM provider, or edit one to add in your own if it is not already there.
To select a preloaded APN, simply tap on the second line.
To edit a preloaded APN to the APN provided by your SIM card provider, perform the following steps:
Tap on the APN that you wish to edit. It will bring you to this page:
Tap on the sections that need editing and edit using the keyboard that will appear. Take your time to type as the keyboard is very small.
Once you have selected your preloaded APN or edited the APN, press the red button on the side to exit, ensure that you have selected your APN (you will need to see the glowing dot similar to below), and restart myFirst Fone by pressing the power button until a power menu appears. Then press "Restart".
Once it is restarted, let it load up. If the APN is successfully registered onto myFirst Fone, the QR code will appear.
